Preview of Cirque du Soleil’s latest show in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – You may have noticed Cirque du Soleil has set up its distinctive big top along Pacific Boulevard in Downtown Vancouver in preparation for the premiere of KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities which gets underway on Thursday.

It’s the first time KURIOS has hit the Canadian West Coast and the production’s Jeff Lovari says it’s unique. “We’re really excited to bring this really fun, really high energy, Steampunk, kind of upside down world to Vancouver.”

Lovari says there are a lot of new acrobatics and some surprising twists including some impressive equipment. “[We use] the largest trampoline in the world in the show. We have 426 props which makes it the most prop-heavy of our touring shows. We’ve created some acrobatic apparatuses for this show that have never been used in Cirque du Soleil before.

We’ve put really interesting twists on maybe things you have seen before, so that there are always surprises around every corner.”

KURIOS starts its run in Vancouver on October 19th and goes through the end of the year. The show here is the last North American stop before heading overseas.
