Christmas Market returns bigger and better next month

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A local holiday tradition is back in exactly one month. The Vancouver Christmas Market returns to Jack Poole Plaza on November 22nd, running until December 24th.

Organizers say vendors are happy to be back at the larger location for a second year.

“It was a really good change,” says General Manager Denise Wegener. “We’ve really outgrown the location at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre [Plaza]. We had a really good run there but it was really time to upgrade to increase the number of vendors at the market to be able to bring more people in to the venue.”

A record 215,000 people visited the Christmas Market in 2016.

This year, more than 75 huts will be stuffed with sweets, treats, and treasures along with festive family-friendly activities and live entertainment.

“Around 25 food and beverage [huts] and 50 merchandise, so we’ve grown quite a bit, even more this year,” Wegener explains.

Also new this year will be a scavenger hunt for kids, as well as a large “walk-in” Christmas tree.
