Trump comes ahead with fresh criticism of Russia inquiry

WASHINGTON, DC. (NEWS 1130) – President Donald Trump is unleashing new criticism of the investigations into possible ties between his campaign associates and Russia.

Trump — in a series of tweets — is making reference to what he calls “phoney Trump/Russia ‘collusion,’ which doesn’t exist.” He says Democrats are using — in his words — a “witch hunt” for “evil politics” and adds that Republicans are “fighting back like never before.”

He adds all of this “Russia” talk comes at a time when the Republicans are making a big push for historic tax cuts and reform, and doesn’t find it to be a coincidence.

Trump’s tweets follow a CNN report that a federal grand jury in Washington approved the first charges in the criminal investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election shortly after Trump abruptly fired then-FBI Director James Comey by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The White House is now preparing for the announcement of an arrest that could come as soon as tomorrow. Muller has been investigating the financial dealings of a number of Trump’s associates, including former campaign manager Paul Manafort.

The Associated Press hasn’t confirmed CNN’s report.
