Deadly Surrey shooting linked to gang violence, victim identified

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Another deadly shooting in Surrey has been linked to gang violence, with homicide investigators identifying the victim of last week’s Alpen Place gunfire as a 27-year-old Vancouver man.

Two men were shot on Friday, with one pronounced dead at the scene and the other taken to the hospital.

Homicide investigators say the dead man is Randeep Kang. He was known to police and associated with Lower Mainland gang activity. Investigators believe his killing was targeted.

Just after the shooting, a dark-coloured SUV was found on fire on Wellington Drive. Police believe it may have something to do with the shooting.

Corporal Frank Jang is urging anyone with information to speak with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“This was a brazen shooting in a residential neighbourhood and a blatant disregard for the safety of the public. There are people who have information about what happened.”
