VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Investigators in Vancouver are asking for your help to find the man responsible for a sexual assault on Sunday night.
Vancouver Police are warning the public after a 20-year-old woman was attacked. They say she had stepped off a transit bus when she was grabbed from behind by a man. He reportedly indicated that he had a weapon and repeatedly groped her and made inappropriate comments before running off.
Police say this happened at about 10 p.m. in the area Victoria Drive and East 64th Avenue and the suspect took off in the direction of Victoria Drive.
“The VPD is working with Coast Mountain Bus Company to recover any potential video and witnesses,” says VPD Constable Jason Doucette. “While our detectives continue their investigation to identify the man responsible for this assault, we are reminding people to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious behaviour to police immediately by calling 911.”
The suspect is described as an Asian man, 5’9 “, 160 lbs. with short black hair. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and shorts, and a medical mask over his face.
Investigators say the woman was not physically hurt and the crime was reported to police on November 1st after she confided in a friend.
This assault comes just one day after police issued a similar warning following an assault in Yaletown.
