Light blanket of snow over parts of the Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – Did you get any flakes in your neck of the woods? People in some parts of the Lower Mainland woke up to snow this morning — others got nothing at all!

Parts of Surrey, White Rock, Delta, Langley, and the Tri Cities received light snow accumulations overnight.

“Some areas in the Valley got hit hard — about 10 centimetres in the Chilliwack region,” says NEWS 1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate.

With a few flakes still falling over parts of the Lower Mainland this morning, the commute has so far been in fairly good shape.

We sent NEWS 1130’s Mike Lloyd from downtown Vancouver to White Rock to Langley. “I’ve seen everything from bare lawns to trees and road signs plastered in white. But the roads have been, by and large, easy to deal with.”

Driving conditions vary this morning. In many parts of Langley, light flurries have been falling, but the roads are clear, whereas in others, there have been slushy and somewhat slippery conditions, with heavier snowfall.

Some side roads are still covered in some areas, but it’s all rather easily navigated.

Consider last night a gentle warning that winter is on the way. We could see a lot more of this in the months ahead.
