VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you didn’t pay much attention to your kids’ Halloween candy this year, police in BC are hoping you’ll really watch out next year.
As recreational marijuana is expected to be legalized, some detachments are wondering if they’ll see more cases of cannabis candy being handed out to trick-or-treaters.
On Tuesday, marijuana gummies were accidentally handed out to a child in Victoria. The child’s parents found the package before anything happened.
Bowen Osoko with Victoria Police says the mistake could be easy to make.
“That actually is something that we’re looking at right now. One of the concerns about the legalization of marijuana is the access that may or may not come with that.”
“As marijuana becomes more available, the opportunities for it to be more available to children, even inadvertently like this, these opportunities are definitely there.”
