Victim was not hurt after shots were reportedly fired

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Police in Surrey are looking at what led up to a road rage incident this morning that may have involved shots being fired.

RCMP say at 10:25 a.m. they were called by a woman who told them the driver of another car was driving erratically and had shot at her in the area of 72nd Avenue and 192nd Street. The suspect took off and she quickly pulled over and called police. She was not hurt.

“Coincidentally, the same suspect vehicle was involved in a relatively minor accident nearby the intersection of 200th Street and 72nd Avenue in Langley shortly afterwards,” explains Corporal Scotty Schumann.

Investigators think impairment is a factor in the crash after discovering it was the same vehicle reported from the road rage incident. The people inside were arrested.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Both cars have been seized for forensic analysis and police are looking to speak to witnesses and gather surveillance images.

“The investigation is just getting underway and as such no formal charges have been laid as of yet,” says Corporal Scotty Schumann. “If you see a motor vehicle offence, pull over when it’s safe.”
