BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Last night’s wind storm gave two families a fright in Burnaby.
A tree came down onto their properties on Parker Street near Gilmore Avenue last night. The damage wasn’t too bad and no one was hurt.
Darren lives in the one of the homes and was awake around 11:30 p.m. when part of the tree gave way.
“All of a sudden, I heard this rumbling kind of noise… lasted about two to three seconds and then I heard a big crash… I thought it was an earthquake, actually.”
Greg Harper with Breakfast Television on City tells us arborists have been busy cutting the tree down so crews can get a sense of the necessary repairs.
“One of the arborists tells me these liquidamber trees don’t do so well when it’s windy,” he explains.
The tree was about 25 metres tall.
