Michael Bublé to host 2018 Juno Awards in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Michael Bublé has been tapped to host the 2018 Junos Awards. The local sensation will hit Rogers Arena as Vancouver hosts the show for the first time in nearly a decade.

Bublé had been selected to host the music awards show last year but had to bow out when his son Noah was diagnosed with cancer.

At the announcement in Vancouver, the Burnaby-born singer had a laugh.

“It’s the Junos, it was either me or Sarah McLachlan.”

But the 12-time Juno winner is pleased he’ll be home for the awards.

“I love my city, it is a great privilege to be asked to host the Junos again. Truly. I tell you, it’s my happy place to be here surrounded by family, friends, artists, musicians that I admire, I respect.”

The Burnaby-born singer announced earlier this month that he was getting back to work next year.

The 2018 Juno Awards will be staged at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on March 24.

This is the fourth time Vancouver has played host to the awards ceremony, which celebrates achievement in Canadian music. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced earlier this year it is reinstating the comedy album of the year category after a 33-year hiatus.

Tickets go on sale for the Junos this Friday. Vancouver plans to host a week of activities and music festivals leading up to the show.
