VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It likely isn’t a surprise to any Canucks fans out there as Brock Boeser is named Rookie of the Month by the NHL following an outstanding November.
Boeser notched 11 goals in 15 games, leading all goal-scorers in the league.
“Boeser became the second rookie in Canucks history to register double-digits in goals in one calendar month, joining Pavel Bure (12 in March 1992). The 20-year-old native of Burnsville, Minnesota, also became the first rookie to score 11 goals for any NHL team in one calendar month since Nail Yakupov posted 11 with the Edmonton Oilers in April 2013,” says the team in a statement.
On November 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boeser got four points, including three goals, becoming the first Canucks rookie to record a four-point game since March 24, 2000. At 20 years, 252 days, he also became the third-youngest player in franchise history to get a hat trick — an honour also held by Trevor Linden and Tony Tanti.
Boeser was the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and he currently leads all rookies with 13 goals and 25 points in 23 games so far this season.
