Extensive repairs required for Hwy 99 / 152 St Overpass

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – It appears the situation on Highway 99 at the 152nd Street Overpass in South Surrey isn’t going to improve anytime soon.

The provincial government says extensive repairs are required after it was hit by a truck towing an excavator on Monday. A plan is being developed right now but we won’t know any further details until next month.

Highway 99 northbound will be down to one lane in that stretch indefinitely, and the 152nd Street Overpass will be restricted to one southbound lane. You’re being warned to expect delays and to plan another route.

There’s no timeline on when the repairs will be finished, and there’s no estimate on how much it will cost — but the province has said it will work with ICBC to recoup the cost from the driver responsible.

In a statement, the government is acknowledging how important the route is but confirms it won’t provide an update until January 2018.
