SURREY (NEWS 1130) – It’s a jam-packed weekend full of free games and activities, as well as some Canucks icons. Our friends at Rogers Hometown Hockey are taking over Surrey.
It’s a part travelling road show and part broadcast. That’s what co-host Tara Sloan says adds up to make this such a unique event, with something for all ages.
“[It’s] a way to spend some time with your kids, particularly if they’re hockey fans. And obviously, adults get a big kick out of the alumni that we bring in.”
She’ll be there alongside Ron MacLean.
It takes place at City Hall plaza, beginning Saturday at noon, with the free festival that will feature former Canucks like goalie Kirk McLean, and even a visit from the Man in Motion himself, Rick Hansen.
The Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leaves will play Sunday at 3:30 p.m. to wrap it all up.
