TODAY: The Great Big Give in support of A Loving Spoonful at the Fountainhead Pub

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The holidays are all about giving. And today, we’re supporting A Loving Spoonful, a local charity that helps people living with HIV/AIDS.

A Loving Spoonful provides week-long meal boxes and snack bags to people in Metro Vancouver living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers deliver upwards of 100,000 meals a year.

This morning, the charity is serving up a different kind of meal at its third annual Great Big Give breakfast fundraiser at the Fountainhead Pub in downtown Vancouver.

NEWS 1130’s Amelia John is there this morning, where breakfast is being served between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

“We’ve got an amazing breakfast,” charity executive director Lisa Martella said. “People can come down, make a minimum of a $5 donation and enjoy pancakes, eggs, bacon. It’s going to be lots of fun, high energy and a really great way to start off the holiday season.”

The Metropolitan Hotel is pitching in; they’ve created a huge chocolate Santa for display at Diva at the Met. For a donation to A Loving Spoonful, you can guess the weight of that giant Santa. Whoever is closest will win it!

Donations can also be made year-round on the charity’s website.

NEWS 1130 is a proud partner of A Loving Spoonful.
