Warning to Langley parents, students after ‘suspicious’ stranger incident

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Parents and students in Langley are being warned about a stranger acting inappropriately in the area, but there’s scant detail about the incident that prompted the caution.

A letter tells parents that a pupil recently encountered a stranger acting inappropriately near Brookswood Secondary and Langley Secondary.

It goes on to say that the school administration and RCMP have investigated the situation and recommended “increased vigilance” in the coming weeks, and that students walk in pairs or groups, or with their parents.

Ken Hoff, with the Langley Schools district, says there’s little detail that can be shared with parents.

“We had a student that was approached by a suspicious person. The student reported that to their parent, and the parent then reported that to the school and the RCMP,” Hoff says.

“It was this week, we’ve actually had a couple of different reports in different neighbourhoods, so this was something we wanted to inform our parents about.”

“But at this time we don’t have any further details around this to share. It was just matter of the school district notifying parents so they can be aware of the situation.”

Langley RCMP has been contacted for comment.
