OAK BAY (NEWS 1130) – A man has been charged with two counts of second degree murder in the Christmas Day deaths of his daughters on Vancouver Island.

The bodies of four-year-old Aubrey Berry and six-year-old Chloe Berry were found in an Oak Bay home on December 25th, when police responded to reports of a “potential incident”.

A friend of the family has said the children’s mother notified police that her former common-law spouse hadn’t returned the girls as scheduled.

Andrew Robert Douglas Berry, 43, was found at the scene, injured. Following his release from hospital, Berry has now been charged.

“Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the double homicide. As the matter is before the courts, no further information will be released,” Corporal Tammy Douglas says. “Victims services will continue to support those impacted by this tragedy.”
