Investigators ID Burnaby homicide victim

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Two days after a man was killed following a fight at an apartment building around Metrotown in Burnaby, police are now identifying the victim.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says 47-year-old Jwada Hedar-Kadhim was killed at the building on Telford Avenue shortly after the fight in the building’s lobby.

“Police are looking to speak with anyone that knew Mr. Hedar-Kadhim,” says Corporal Meghan Foster. “It remains early in the investigation, but police believe there was a conflict leading up to the homicide and that this was not a random act of violence.”

IHIT is working with Burnaby RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the BC Coroners Service to track down and process evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT Information Line at 1.877.551.IHIT (4448) or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477).
