BC’s executive director of Cannabis Operations will earn up to $140,000

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – At least two new jobs have been created in the lead up to the legalization of recreational marijuana in BC. Both come with high salaries.

The Attorney General plans to pay the executive director of Cannabis Operations up to $140,000 a year.

The new director of merchandising for pot sales could also earn as much as $112,000. Applications for that job, which has been posted online, are due January 11th.

However, no time limit has been placed on the executive director position. Instructions from the BC Public Service suggest the closing date will be published with five days’ notice.

Last month, the NDP government announced the Liquor Distribution Branch will be in charge of distribution when the federal government makes it official this summer.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to have pot legalized by July.
