SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A man and a woman have been charged after Mounties seized drugs and guns from a home in Surrey last month, in what they say is an ongoing investigation connected to Lower Mainland gang violence.

Surrey RCMP’s Drug Unit seized an assault rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, a revolver, ammunition, drugs and cash when they raided a home on 144A Street in Surrey on December 13th.

Abdul Shaheel Khan, 22, and Shastina Shrena Kumar, 21, both from Surrey, have each been charged unlawfully trafficking in a controlled substance, unlawfully possessing a controlled substance and various firearms offences.

Khan remains in custody pending his next court appearance, while Kumar has been released on bail and is under house arrest.

The December 13th raid led to another search warrant being executed about a week later at a home on 83rd Avenue, where rifles, a shotgun, ammunition and a stolen vehicle were seized. A man has been released on a Promise to Appear with various conditions.

Surrey RCMP expects more charges to stem from the investigation.
