Snow expected on out-of-town highways

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you’ll be driving one of the major highways out of the Lower Mainland late tonight or early tomorrow morning, be prepared for some snow.

Flakes are expected to start coming down overnight, with between five and 15 centimetres set to have fallen by tomorrow night.

But Bob Gilowski with VSA Highway Maintenance, which looks after the Coquihalla, says it’ll just be business as usual for crews.

“It’s just a constant reminder that you’re going encounter winter driving conditions at this time of the year over the mountain passes. Plan for extra time and reduce your speed accordingly.”

Snow is predicted for the Coquihalla, the Hope-Princeton Highway, the Sea-to-Sky between Squamish and Whistler, and the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna.
