Fog advisory in effect for much of Metro Vancouver

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Make sure you slow down and take extra care on the roads.

Thick fog blanketing much of the region is making for an eerie sight in parts, and could pose a risk to those on the roads.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Metro Vancouver. It applies to the region’s northeast, southeast, southwest and the City of Vancouver.

Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge are all affected. The advisory also covers Surrey, Langley, Richmond and Delta.

The North Shore is also being blanketed by the thick fog.

Near-zero visibility is being reported in many parts of the region, creating dangerous conditions for drivers as well as pedestrians.

You’re being reminded to slow down, turn your headlights on, and be extra cautious.

The fog is expected to lift later this morning.
