Suspect sought after sexual assault on Abbotsford school grounds

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in the Fraser Valley are asking for your help as they try to track down a suspect in connection with a sexual assault that took place yesterday. Investigators are hoping for any witnesses, CCTV and dashcam video from the area around Oriole Crescent and George Ferguson Way.

At about 6 p.m. police say patrol members responded to reports of an attack on the grounds of John Maclure Elementary School. They say the victim was walking through the school’s field when a man approached her from behind and pushed her down. “The victim was able to free herself, and ran southbound across George Ferguson Way to an open business, where she received help,” says Sergeant Judy Bird.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30 or 40s, with a scruffy beard. He’s about 5’11”, with a medium build and weighs roughly 175 lbs. Police say the suspect was wearing dark jeans, a zip-up hoodie with the words “Dry Fit” on the back.

“At this time, investigators believe that the victim and the suspect do not know each other,” adds Bird.
