Celebration of life for Delta teen as community mourns his loss

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – Mourners have gathered to remember a 14-year-old local baseball star who passed away last Tuesday. Today, a celebration of life is being held for Kyle Losse who is being remembered by his friends, family, teammates and coaches.

One week ago today, Kyle’s family says they heard a loud bang and when they ran to see what it was, they found Losse on the bathroom floor. They found the teen with a vape pen or e-cigarette next to him. He had sustained a serious head injury and was taken to the hospital. He was released that same night, but it wasn’t before long he was rushed back. Kyle was taken off life-support last Tuesday at BC Children’s Hospital.

Kyle was a star baseball player for the Delta Triple-A Tigers, and his coach Cam Frick says he had real talent. “He had the type of skill and passion for the game that when he stepped on the field, everyone took notice, everyone knew he was there. He was loved by his teammates and coaches. It’s been a tough couple of days for us and I can’t imagine what the Losse family is going through.”

Frick says Kyle’s family and teammates are hurting and help was brought in for the players. “For many of these kids, 13 or 14-years-old, this is the first time they’ve dealt with something like this and we thought it was important to get some experts in to help them through this process.”

The exact cause of death is unknown.

Today’s ceremony is at Winskill Park in Tsawwassen.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in Kyle’s honour.
