Dad of Montreal entertainer Gregory Charles ‘fighting for life’ after hit by tractor

MONTREAL – The 77-year-old father of Quebec singer and performer Gregory Charles remained in critical condition Wednesday after being hit by a snow removal truck the night prior.

Charles wrote on Facebook Wednesday his father, Lennox, is “fighting for his life.”

“He was coming back from church he went to everyday since my mother passed away a year ago,” Charles wrote in a brief message. “The accident was brutal, his condition is critical and he’s been fighting since last night for life — for his life.”

Montreal police said a man in his 70s was struck while attempting to cross the street in the city’s central Ville-Marie borough on Tuesday and their investigation is ongoing.

The 69-year-old driver of the snow-removal tractor was met by investigators.

Charles is a well-known pianist who has performed around the world and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017.

He said his father is a religious man and asked people to say a prayer for him.
