Suspect sought after groping in North Delta

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – Three schools in North Delta were put on alert this morning after a woman reported being groped from behind by a stranger.

Cris Leykauf with Delta Police says this happened on a running track on the grounds of Seaquam Secondary at around 10:15 this morning.

The woman was injured, but police won’t say how. The suspect is still out there.

“Police officers did respond immediately and a police dog was brought in to assist in the search,” but to no avail says Leykauf.

The high school and two nearby elementary schools were placed under a code yellow for several hours — that’s where a school goes ahead with its normal routine but cancels or delays outdoor activities and limits who can come through the doors.

The lockdown caused a lot of concerns for parents.

“On social media, they are telling us they hear it was a bear, they head it was a person with a gun. Apparently, there were a lot of rumours,” says Leykauf.

Police say they’re looking for a man with a medium build wearing a dark hoodie and possibly dark pants.
