Road crews to begin spring maintenance

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Keep an eye out for crews maintaining local highways.

Contractors in charge of looking after those major routes are beginning their spring clean up. You’ll see them out mowing grass, washing bridges and fixing potholes.

Darren Ell with Mainroad Contracting asks you to slow down when you see those crews and give them plenty of space to work.

“We do have crews out working on bridge structures as well, doing concrete patching and repairs on the deck surfaces as well. Sometimes there’s delays but again please be patient. the guys are out there trying to get the work done as fast as they can,” says Ell.

“It gets pretty harrowing when you’re out there on the side of the highway and cars are zipping by at a 100 kilometres an hour so the guys are out there trying to make sure the roads are safe and passable for everybody and they’re just doing the maintenance to make sure it maintains the safety aspects of it.”

Ell says much of this work will be done outside of peak hours.
