Police make another appeal to find hit and run driver in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – More than a week after a pedestrian was hit by a car that took off, Mounties in Surrey are again appealing for help to find the driver.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. on Mar. 18 in the area of King George Boulevard near 152nd Street. A 38-year-old woman crossing the street was struck. She was rushed to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

“Speaking to the driver will allow us to find out what happened in this collision,” says Corporal Samantha Audley. “We believe that the driver feels remorseful about what has happened, and coming forward to the police will help bring closure to both the driver and the person who they injured.”

Shortly after the crash, investigators released images from witness video footage hoping someone could identify the car involved. Police also issued a photo of a van of which the driver may be a witness to the collision.

The suspect vehicle is being described as a black four-door sedan with a tan interior. Police say it’s possibly an early 2000’s model Acura TL. The driver was wearing a black coat while the passenger was dressed in a light coloured coat.

Anyone with more information about this case is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS.
