Search warrant carried out in connection to missing Vancouver mother

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Members of the VPD‘s Homicide Unit were around East 15th Ave. near Clark Drive on Wednesday afternoon carrying out a search warrant in connection to the disappearance of a Vancouver mother.

“Although no arrests have been made, investigators continue to make progress in this investigation,” said Constable Jason Doucette in a statement.

Su Yi Liang vanished on Jan. 8. but wasn’t reported missing until Jan. 10 after she failed to pick her kids up from school. The VPD’s Major Crime Section was brought in and figured out she had gone missing two days before.

Police won’t go into detail, but say based on information they already have, it’s believed Liang disappeared under suspicious circumstances and likely won’t be found alive.

A man was taken into custody in January as officers searched Liang’s home, however, after being questioned he was released.

In February, investigators expanded their search to New Brighton Park hoping to hear from anyone who may have seen Liang who was last seen visiting the park.

Police previously confirmed Liang’s grey 2014 BMW i3 was seen in the parking lot of the park on Jan. 8 just before 12 p.m. They also released CCTV images capturing the car being driven near the park that same day at 12:30 p.m., but it’s unclear who may have been behind the wheel. Officers eventually found the car at the Rupert Park Pitch & Putt three days later.

Anyone with information about this case is asking anyone who may know anything about her disappearance or where her remains may be, to call homicide detectives at 604.717.2500 or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
