Man intentionally backs pick-up truck into Vancouver Police cruiser, department says

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A man intentionally backed his pick-up truck into a police cruiser near police headquarters in Vancouver Friday night, police say, but his motive is still not clear.

The 38-year-old slowly pulled up in front of the building on West 5th Avenue at Cambie, then sped around the block, they say.

Officers reportedly saw the man blow through a nearby stop sign and nearly hit someone on a bicycle before he stopped the truck in front of a marked cruiser on West 5th.

That’s when they say he rammed the police car behind him.

The man, who has not been identified, got out of his truck and was “confrontational” with officers.

He was later arrested.

There were no injuries.
