VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Crews with Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services are expected to be on the scene of a three alarm blaze for most of the morning.
The flames began ripping through Metropolitan Fine Printers on East Pender Street near Clark Drive around 10:30 p.m. yesterday.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Wilson says the building has been heavily damaged, but there were no injuries.
“Crews came in [and there was] very, very heavy smoke inside the building and no one was inside at the time.”

“Once we arrived on scene, there was no sign of flame, but the building was completely full of thick, heavy brown smoke, which means deep-seeded fire,” adds Wilson.
He says it looks like the fire began inside the building, adding crews are still keeping an eye on some potentially dangerous materials inside the structure.
“It’s all the plastics that burned up, then we have the thinners and all the paints, and all of the other chemical associated with cleaning and thinning paints and things like that.”
Crews have spent much of this morning putting out hot spots.
