Hundreds of bikes, jewels, electronics up for grabs at annual VPD auction

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Attention, bargain hunters. The annual Vancouver Police Recovered Goods Auction is taking place this weekend in Surrey.

Every year plenty of different items go on the auction block including bikes, watches, toys, even toiletries.

Organizer Robert Kavanagh says the bikes are always a fan favourite. “There are about 300 bikes and most of them are very nice bikes. It’s an auction that has something for everybody. You name, it’s probably here. We’ve probably got every bike represented here. Full-suspension bikes, downhill bikes, street bikes — there are some bikes that are valued at over $3,000 to $4,000 if you had to pay the retail price for them. ”

Kavanagh adds there are also 86 lots of jewelry on the block, the most they’ve ever had. “There are lots of 20 carat, 22 carat gold jewelry. There’s lots of jade. Some nice Rolex watches.”

There are also musical instruments, electronics, skateboards, golf clubs, comic books as well as men’s and women’s designer clothes.

Everything that’s at the auction is from the VPD’s property office and the proceeds collected will go to the City of Vancouver’s treasury.

The auction is being held at 13557 77th Avenue in Surrey.
