Body of missing Whistler man found in Banff

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – The search for a missing man from Whistler has ended tragically in Banff.

A hiker found William Lynskey’s body in Banff National Park last week, but we’re just hearing about it now.

Staff Sergeant Paul Hayes with Whistler RCMP is not naming Lynskey, but is confirming some of the details.

“We provided the Banff RCMP and the Alberta medical examiner dental records that were compared against this individual and it was confirmed to be our missing person from a year prior.”

The 22-year-old was studying computer programming at BCIT at the time he went missing just over a year ago. He was last seen in Vancouver.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, but Mounties say it doesn’t look suspicious.

RCMP say the family has been notified.
