Stanley Cup Final ticket prices through the roof in Sin City

LAS VEGAS (NEWS 1130) – The Vegas Golden Knights are the best story in sports these days.

And while the players get to sit back and watch a decisive Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Final tonight to determine just who they will face for the Stanley Cup – the fanbase in Sin City knows it has to buck up for tickets to the Final.

That’s just how the system works — the local team goes deep in the playoffs, and the ticket prices soar.

Todd Fuhrman is the host of the Bet the Board Podcast, and is also a Golden Knights season ticket holder.

The value of his playoff tickets have gone up throughout the first three rounds.

“I joked with my season ticket partner that we’re going to spend about as much money on playoff tickets as we did during the regular season, when the team is doing everything they could to try and fill the building. So they put escalator clauses in the opening round of the playoffs, about one and a half times face value for the regular season.”

He says he’s coming to the realization that he’s going to pay just as much for playoff tickets than he did for his seats in the regular season.

“They’ve told us four to five times that regular season face value is going to be the going rate for Stanley Cup Final tickets. The cheapest seat you can find right now on StubHub in the upper deck, about a thousand bucks.”

Some would argue that as a hockey fan in the midst of a long playoff run, that’s a nice problem to have.

A quick check of Stubhub shows that it will cost you at least $800 US per ticket just to get into T-Mobile arena for the Knights first two home dates in the Final – and you know it’s only going to go up from there.
