Dog stolen in New Westminster found safe

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Police say a little dog who was reportedly stolen from outside a New Westminster shop has been found safe.

New Westminster Police confirmed the news on social media, and say the 11-year-old Brussels Griffon-Chihuahua mix has been reunited with his family.

It’s believed Jackson the dog was taken after his owners left him secured on his leash outside of a store on Carnarvon Street near 8th Street around 6 p.m. Saturday. His owners went inside for a brief moment, and when they returned Jackson was gone.

Police released surveillance images of a Caucasian woman, around 40 years old, which appeared to show her walking away from the New Westminster SkyTrain station with the dog in hand.

Police say an investigation into any criminal offence continues.
