Jason Wu’s first fragrance speaks to his childhood

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Scents often bring on memories and Jason Wu packed a personal one into his first fragrance.

The namesake scent includes middle notes of jasmine sambac, flowers he picked as a boy in Taiwan. Finding just the right balance was a process.

Wu told The Associated Press he smelled a lot of raw ingredients for the namesake perfume and jasmine was the one that stood out. His first effort at a fragrance earned him a nomination for packaging at the Fragrance Foundation Awards on Tuesday. Carolina Herrera won instead.
