Group-buy coupons build brand loyalty: study

Survey finds six out of 10 users become repeat customers

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - One of the key knocks against online group coupon sites is that customers never go back once the incentive is gone. But a new survey finds companies like Groupon and RDeals are actually good for business.

Ipsos has found nearly six out of 10 online group coupon users really do become repeat customers.

Ipsos Senior VP Catherine Dawson says the craze -- while still in its early days -- can be effective, especially for small businesses and start-ups.

"As a tool in their arsenal of ways to create a loyal customer base, it's one that certainly has potential for leverage in the Canadian economy," she explains.

Dawson adds given these uncertain economic conditions, online group coupons allow people to sample new products and services at a much lower risk.
