Andean Resources Ltd (TSX:AND). Miner. Up $2.17, or 45.11 per cent, at $6.98 on 73,900,141 shares. Goldcorp (TSX:G) said it was acquiring the Utah-based miner in a friendly takeover valued at $3.6 million. That appeared to trump a rival, $3.4-million bid by Eldorado Gold Corp. (TSX:ELD), which said it intends to take its offer directly to shareholders. Goldcorp shares were down $1.69, or 3.66 per cent, at $44.49 on 4,375,976 shares, while Eldorado stock was off 64 cents, or 3.12 per cent, at $19.89 on 4,794,632 shares.
Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance. Up 37 cents or 2.88 per cent, at $13.23 on 10,077,070 shares. Stock in Canada's largest insurance company continued a rebound begun a week ago after having nosedived to just over $11 on a disappointing quarterly financial report in early August.
Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 19 cents, or 1.06 per cent, at $18.12 on 9,995,145 shares. Kinross reaffirmed its "strong commitment" to complete a friendly, US$7.1-billion takeover of Red Back Mining Inc. (TSX:RBI). Red Back stock was down 69 cents, or 2.20 per cent, at $30.64 on 3,931,423 shares.
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up four cents, or 0.84 per cent at $4.79 on 7,294,503 shares.
Mirabela Nickel Ltd. (TSX:MNB). Miner. Up three cents, or 1.75 per cent, at $1.74 on 5,337,407 shares. The base metal sector moved up 0.68 per cent even as early gains in copper prices disappeared with the December copper contract on the Nymex unchanged at US$3.50 a pound.
Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Down 48 cents, or 3.50 per cent, at $13.25 on 5,184,072 shares.
Encore Renaissance Resources Corp. (TSXV:EZ). Miner. Down half a cent, or 5.56 per cent, at 8.5 cents on 4,728,785 shares.
Arctic Star Diamond Corp. (TSXV:ADD). Miner. Unchanged at five cents on 4,0404,722 shares.

Arctic Glacier Income Fund (TSX:AG.UN). Packaged ice. Up 15 cents, or 9.09 per cent, at $1.80 on 129,856 shares. The company announced Friday that its U.S. subsidiary, Arctic Glacier International Inc., had reached an agreement with authorities in Michigan to resolve allegations that it had violated the state's antitrust laws.
Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (TSX:PRE). Oil and gas. Down 17 cents, or 0.69 per cent, at $24.40 on 1,257,151 shares. The company has struck a farm-out agreement to give a further interest in the Buganviles oil and gas block in Colombia to a South American subsidiary of Petrodorado Energy Ltd. (TSXV:PDQ).
Transat A.T. Inc. (TSX:TRZ.B). Travel. Up 10 cents, or 0.80 per cent, at $12.60 on 47,14 shares. The company said its subsidiary, Air Transat, had reached a tentative, 48-month, contract with its more than 300 pilots.
