Dianne Newman
Morning Show Anchor
Dianne caught the performance bug in her first stage production in the Fraser Valley at the age of four. The years that followed involved plenty of singing, countless roles in children's theatre and amateur productions. A highlight was an Outstanding Performance Award at a provincial zone drama final in the 1980's. She also worked as a musical therapist for the challenged, museum tour guide, machine operator and in the photo finishing industry. In 1986, while shopping a radio play, Dianne convinced the program director at Mountain FM in Squamish she should be hired as a deejay. He bit and she became a news anchor/deejay, the Queen of Remotes, wrote and produced a history of the town and eventually decided to concentrate on news, which led to Vancouver. After numerous format changes at an AM station and its' eventual sale, Dianne joined Rogers as a beat reporter and news anchor for CKWX Super Country. As the AM station evolved, she worked afternoons for KISS-FM, now JACK-FM. The launch of News1130 brought an entirely new set of challenges, which she enjoys to this day as a co-anchor on the morning show. Dianne emcees luncheons, award, charity and sporting events on a regular basis. For fun, she enjoys travel, running, pumping iron and singing karaoke.
