Afternoon Drive Anchor
Jim’s a native of Vancouver, but grew up in the Fraser Valley. His first radio broadcasts were at the age of 14 when he co-hosted a weekly roundup of news from Abbotsford Junior Secondary on CFVR (now Country 107.1). After graduating from high school, he landed his first full-time radio job on Vancouver Island in 1975.
Though he spent most of his early career as a disc jockey and commercial reader, Jim’s got plenty of experience in news radio. He spent nine years at the defunct CKO all-news network in Vancouver, including time as News/Programme Director, and was the announcer for the afternoon talk shows on CJOR at the time it went off the air in 1988. He’s been at News1130 for 15 years.
Besides news, Jim has spent parts of five decades covering local professional baseball for several radio stations and wire services, and was a charter member of the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Hall of Fame (Media Division).
