WEST VANCOUVER(NEWS1130) A
West Vancouver bus driver appears to have some brave passengers to thank.
A man apparently tried to get to get on the bus during the Monday afternoon rush without the proper fare, and became violent.
When the driver stopped him, the man is said to have attacked. Sgt. Paul Skelton with
West Vancouver Police says that's when help arrived. "It's my understanding that some passengers on the bus came forward which may have cause the individual in this matter to walk off the bus."
Skelton says shortly after the incident, the 41-year-old suspect was arrested on Marine Drive without any problems. He's expected to be in court later today on possible assault charges.
The driver was taken to hospital with injuries to his face. He's been released and is said to be okay.
If you were on the bus near Park Royal and saw what happened, you're asked to call police at 604-925-7300 .
