Sixty-seven year old Alfred Picard died after hitting a deer

Denise Wong Oct 30, 2010 17:20:34 PM

WASHINGTON STATE (NEWS1130) - A Victoria man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Washington State.

Washington State Patrol says Alfred Picard was heading down Highway 101 about 70 kilometres south of Forks around five o'clock Friday afternoon. That's when a deer jumped out into the road in front of the 67-year-old motorcyclist.

Trooper Todd Bartolac says, "He actually struck the deer. Crews tried to revive him, but unfortunately, the collision got the better of him."

Bartolac tells us these kind of crashes aren't unheard of in that area. "It is a heavily wooded area, and there are an abundance of wildlife in that area."

No word on the conditions of the road, nor Picard's level of experience.
