Did he jump, or was he pushed?

Expert says Campbell may have been pushed to quit

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There are plenty of rumours floating around Gordon Campbell's surprise resignation yesterday. But University of Victoria Political Scientist Dennis Pilon believes party fundraisers might have played a part in his decision to step down.

"He might have been getting messages from people who really have influence in the party, like the party's funders, people on Howe Street... People who allow the Liberals to run the kind of campaigns that they do."

Chilliwack MLA Jon Les says he wasn't aware of any push from inside the caucus, telling us Campbell came to the conclusion that stepping down was in BC's best interest. But there's word as many as 17 Liberal MLAs signed a letter saying Campbell needed to go.
