VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There's the bus and there's the bicycle. We've been urged to come up with Games-time alternatives. Today VANOC will start testing those options out.
From commuters to delivery drivers, VANOC's TravelSmart 2010 Challenge hopes to ease us off Downtown Vancouver roads and into alternatives, week by week ahead of the Games. But for many, like this man whose day already starts at 4:30a.m. and whose drive takes him from North Vancouver to Richmond, there's not much in the way of options, "I'd like to see them go three zones and 35 kilometres. Work's work. You got to get there."
Those prepared to park it and try out bus or SkyTrain hopefully won't be turned off public transit for good. A story in today's Vancouver Sun warns of potential two hour backups at some stations in peak times during the Games.
