Man charged for selling fake Olympics tickets

Accused collected $60,000 for tickets he never delivered

Dan Burritt/The Canadian Press Jan 04, 2011 17:48:44 PM
WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a man accused of selling tickets for the 2010 Olympics but never delivering them to almost 30 buyers. Thirty-one-year-old Sean McConnell Stuart of West Vancouver faces a number of charges.

Police claim Stuart offered tickets for sale online for the opening ceremony and the men's gold medal hockey game. They say Stuart collected a 50 per cent down payment from most of his victims and promised to deliver the tickets when he got them from VANOC.

But police say he never came through, and VANOC says he never had an account with the organization. He's accused of collecting $60,000 from victims all over Canada, the US and as far away as Croatia.
