Wasn't crossing in a marked area

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Mounties in Surrey have re-opened a stretch of King George Boulevard between Fraser Highway and 100 Ave. following a deadly crash between a young woman and an RCMP cruiser.

It was around 9:40 p.m. Monday when an 18-year-old woman was crossing King George Boulevard, in an unmarked area. She was hit by the car and rushed to hospital.  The victim, whose name is not being released, died en route.

Surrey RCMP Staff Sergeant Blair McColl can't say if the cruiser was speeding to get to a call or whether it had its lights flashing.  "At this point I don't know enough to give you a definitive answer.  That will be part of the investigation done by Abbotsford [Police] certainly."

The Mountie involved, who has two years experience, was not hurt.

If you saw anything or have any information you are asked to call Abbotsford Police at 604.859.5225.
