TORONTO (NEWS1130) - The desperate situation in Haiti saw Canadian and US stars come out and ask for your help. Both countries held telethons collecting donations, with celebrities manning the phones and taking to the stage.

Nelly Furtado, Rick Mercer and The Tragically Hip were just some of the Canadian celebrities who joined to support "Canada for Haiti".  The telethon has raised over 9.4 million dollars, that money says, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, will be matched dollar for dollar by Ottawa.

The Canadian telethon was followed by the U.S.'s "Hope for Haiti Now" with George Clooney hosting. Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts two of the celebrities manning the phones while Christina Aguilera, Madonna and Beyonce  were among those who preformed.
