Council still committed to ending homelessness by 2015

Mayor expects a motion to be passed on Tuesday

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The City of Vancouver has a lofty goal on its hands.  Council is looking at revising the plan but sticking with the target of ending street homelessness by 2015.

From yearly homelessness counts and report cards to addressing the changing economic climate, mayor Gregor Robertson is calling for the City's Homeless Action Plan to be revised with clear targets.  He claims the initial plan from 2005 needs to be updated with interim and long-term solutions, including ways to obtain funding and encourage citizen engagement.

Robertson is aware that the city has a long way to go but he's hoping refocusing the plan will get everyone on track.  The motion comes to council on Tuesday.
