VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Diversity, hope and creativity, that's the message of one local initiative called Project Wishflags. So what is a wishflag? Project coordinator, Natasha Wheatley, says it is in essence a wish for Vancouver. "The project involves having members of Vancouver's community producing their own wishflags which are inspired by the Tibetan prayer flags. Each flag will contain a note with a wish for the city and the individual about what they see possible for their community." At Wishflags' workshops you are given a piece of cloth on which you write, paint or draw your wish.
Wheatley says the timing is no mistake, adding the Olympics are the perfect time to get the project's message out. "I thought this would be a great time to celebrate the diversity that makes Vancouver what it is, enhance creativity and bring about a sense of possibility for the future."
This past Sunday saw the first three workshops held in partnership with the 4Cats Arts Studio's in Kitsilano, Kerrisdale and Main Street. For more information or if you would like to take part in a Wishflag workshop click
