MISSION (NEWS1130) - It's the home stretch for the 2010 torch relay. The Olympic flame is inching closer to Metro Vancouver, after starting its day in Mission this morning.
It's a big day for the torch. At 5:45am, it took off from Mission at Stave Lake St and Cherry Avenue, heading towards the Lougheed Highway. It will be darting in and out of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and in Langley by noon where there will be a celebration starting in advance of the torch's arrival at 10:45am. After that, the torch heads to Surrey for the afternoon.
If you're in Maple Ridge this morning, there's a free breakfast at the Memorial Peace Park from 6:15am - 8:00am. The torch wraps up its day at Surrey's Holland Park at 7:00pm when former Olympic wrestler Daniel Igali will light the community cauldron.
