Guide to going to Olympic venues

Leave that ATM card at home - Cash or Visa only

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Additional sight lines mean VANOC may open up some more tickets to the opening ceremonies tomorrow. We're trying to find out what is allowed in for that an other Olympic events.

First of all,  leave that ATM card at home.  Venues only accept cash, Visa or Visa debit card.

If you're heading to the slopes to watch the action, VANOC suggests layering, winter boots and lots of wind and waterproof gear.  You'll be outside without access to shelter for some time. Blankets are okay, just make sure there are no metal parts in there. Taking the Olympic bus network to Whistler? Snacks are allowed but no food into the actual venues. Water bottles are fine, but make sure they are sealed when you head in.

Also, remember to bring your tickets. I know, it's a simple task but one of the most important because heading back to get it could put you behind.  Ensure you're arriving at the right place, on the right day with lots of time to spare. Your ticket to the event is also good for a ride on transit in Metro Vancouver.
Full security screening is necessary so the smaller the bag, the better.  If you're carrying something smaller than a bread box, you can head to an express line to get in. You can bring an umbrella but make sure it collapses down to fit under your seat.  Golf umbrellas are a no-no.
